‘Management’ Asbestos Surveys

This is the ‘standard’ type of survey, required on all structures built before the year 2000.

Its purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, the presence and extent of any suspect asbestos containing materials in the building which could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupancy, including foreseeable maintenance and installation, and to assess their condition.

‘Refurbishment & Demolition’ Asbestos Surveys

A refurbishment or demolition asbestos survey will be necessary when the building (or part of it) is to be upgraded, refurbished or demolished.  It may also be required in other circumstances, eg when more intrusive maintenance and repair work will be carried out or for plant removal or dismantling.

This type of survey will be fully intrusive and involve destructive inspection, as necessary, to gain access to all areas, including those that may be difficult to reach.

Re-Inspection of Asbestos Containing Materials

If you’ve previously had an asbestos survey carried out and you require a formal re-inspection of the materials, we can carry out a ‘Re-inspection’ type Asbestos Survey.

This type of survey involves a visual check on each item of asbestos found during a previous asbestos survey or surveys, updates the ‘Material Assessment’ score and provides recommendations where necessary.

Bespoke Sampling & Analysis

If you’ve come across a specific material and are unsure whether it contains asbestos, we can come to you, safely take a sample of the material and have it analysed for asbestos fibres by our UKAS-accredited laboratory.
